Here are two links to the struggle of Nicaragua's Rama indigenous community right in the path of the proposed interoceanic canal. The Rama are one of three principle indigenous groups which populated the eastern shores of Nicaragua prior to colonization. Their way of life, land and language are in peril. http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/how-indigenous-group-battling-construction-nicaragua-canal-180956418/?no-ist http://www.hakaimagazine.com/

Hi Bonnie. Thank you for your kind support. Also thank you for caring about this. There is got to be other ways to develop this beautiful country. A canal would only bring damage, particularly if it is not done with the highest international standards. May I ask you to share our link with some of your closest friends and ask them to pitch in? We only have one more week to raise US $1,200 and I am starting to worry. Please keep in touch. You can write to me directly to jorgehuete@uca-cbm.org
