Catherine and Jessica, if you want to have a conversation about how to find backers for your project, I'd be happy to help. I'm doing a PhD on crowdfunding in academia, and I've talked to a bunch of people who have done this. Talking together might spark some ideas that might help. Asking for money is hard, and it doesn't just happen by magic. Happy to help, if you would like to kick around some ideas. It looks like you are based in Barcelona. I'm in Melbourne, so the time zones aren't completely impossible. Your 9 am is my 5 pm at the moment. Let me know if you are interested - email: jonathan.odonnell@unimelb.edu.au This is a free service - I don't run any sort of crowdfunding consultancy. I just like your project and would like to help. Hi Rita Getting close to the end now. If you are looking for a way to get the message out in this last week, you might want to try something like a #SelfiesForSELFOS hashtag to draw attention to your campaign from the community researching SELFOS in different disciplines. It might bring in a few donations from people outside your immediate network. If nothing else, it will draw more attention to SELFOS, which are fascinating. There have been a few hashtags like this for crowdfunding campaigns. The one that I remember best was #UndiesForCDiff by the amazing Mel Thomson. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23UndiesForCDiff&src=typed_query&f=top Anyway, just a thought. Good luck with the campaign and the research. Jonathan

Hi Clara and Neil. Getting close now. I don't know what promotion you've been doing, but you might want to think about putting out some #FakePenguinFacts to get people to your page. https://twitter.com/search?q=%23FakePenguinFacts&f=top That's what Jacquelyn Gill (University of Maine) did to get her campaign over the line. She writes about it here: Gill, Jacquelyn. ‘What Do Darwin, Penguins, Poop, Fire, and Sheep Have in Common? A Crowd-Funding Quest(ion)’. The Contemplative Mammoth (blog), 4 November 2014. https://contemplativemammoth.com/2014/11/04/what-do-darwin-penguins-poop-fire-and-sheep-have-in-common-a-crowd-funding-question/ Good luck with the campaign, and with the research. Hello Monal, Chin and Viliame. My name is Jonathan O'Donnell and I study crowdfunding in academia. I'm giving a talk soon and would like to use your project as an example. At the start of the talk, I will make a donation to your project to demonstrate how academic crowdfunding works. Is that OK with you? In the lead up to the talk, you will see me make small donations (A$1 each time). This is me practicing my talk. Then I'll make a regular donation (about A$20 or A$50) at the start of the talk. It would be a great help to me if I could do this. I'm focusing on Australian universities, and because Monal has a position at University of the Sunshine Coast, this means that your campaign is within the scope of my project. There aren't many researchers in Australia doing this right now, so I'd love to use your project as my example. You can see details of my talk here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/crowdfunding-at-australian-universities-registration-263573785287 I can be contacted at: jonathan.odonnell@unimelb.edu.au Any assistance greatly appreciated.
