This is really cool! How do you ensure that you don't contract the disease from the birds that you are testing? Is it transmissible through skin contact?
I'm really glad that my health classes spent time on sexual orientation, identity, acceptance and prejudice. Otherwise, if not covered there, there's not really a place for it in the regular school curriculum. It was truly informative, and definitely promoted more acceptance and understanding.
This is my favorite Microyza project so far. Before working with Microryza, I never thought that I was a 'research person'- discovering new cures for diseases is cool, sure, but I just wasn't that passionate about it. With projects like Lilly's about food and sustainability, I realize that there is research out there about subjects that I am incredibly interested in. Thank you Lilly for putting this project up!
