Well, it's done! Now onto peer review!

Thanks to your donations AND patience, I am confident in what I've been calling the "time-traveling photon" effect. It has taken me almost two years to believe it, analyze the data and write it up,...

Hunting artifacts!

In the publish-or-perish world of mainstream academia, artifact hunting has become a lost art. More and more, scientists tend to publish once a result is found -- leading to spurious results that t...

Found a way to share a figure!

An addendum to yesterday's note -- the co-founder of Experiment.com, Cindy Wu, pointed out that one can upload figures through a creative commons license that requires anyone to ask my permission b...

Your friendly time-traveling photon update video!

Hello wonderful donors!I talked over email with the Experiment.com co-founder and it turns out I'm not the only one with pre-publishing sharing jitters. Soon I'll either create a brief Arxiv paper ...

Things are progressing in interesting ways...is that vague or what?

Hi wonderful supporters of the Future Photon experiment!I am writing to let you know that I have run 600 runs of the experiment at the same four durations and have found interesting effects -- esse...

Automating a double-slit setup for data gathering - DONE! And it's so COOL!

Have you ever had a job that only an engineer could do and the only engineer you know is way over-qualified for the job? And yet -- you ask that engineer to help out and the engineer agrees, even t...

Got the double-slit setup calibrated and running!

Hello wonderful supporters!Yesterday we were supposed to get the double-slit setup calibrated, running, and automated. The first two worked, the second one had to be delayed for some extra machinin...

Yes! I have to do some more experiments to understand the effect and then think on this -- but it's hard to think of alternative explanations until I really get the effect clear in my mind.

Hi Jon! Yes indeedy DAT could have caused the results which is part of why we are automating the experiment. You must have precog'd this! Love, Julia

Hi Neil, I saw all your comments and agree with them all -- especially two main points: 1) broadening our examination of nature to understand retrocausality could create a field of science that explains precognition as a matter of course, but not as its main end, and 2) "influence" on the present rather than "changing" anything is the way to think about any retrocausal future influence. Take care, Julia

Hi Neil, I think there are a bunch of ideas about how QM could support precognition, but all of them are weak, because of course precognition is something that happens in very large systems (humans) with some kind of not-well-understood relationship with consciousness (which itself is not well understood). But I do know that some people who study precognition tend to read up on retrocausality, and the transactional interpretation and TSVF are interesting interpretations of QM that seem to support retrocausality, though there are arguments there too (like, whether what seems retrocausal is happening in spacetime or not). Anyway, it's all a mess, but that's the lay of the land as far as I am aware. Take care, Julia

Hi Roland, Yes they might I suppose -- to the extent that anyone's beliefs in any experiment they run might influence the results. Further, I suppose unconscious beliefs could influence the results. So I figure I'm looking for effects that can withstand all of that. And that can be replicated by others with different beliefs. Take care, Julia
