Methods

Summary

We will affix VHF radio transmitters to fledgling Rusty Blackbirds. These transmitters send a signal allowing us to track the birds using handheld antennas. We will take habitat measurements at fledgling points as well as at nest sites. By comparing habitat measurements at these used sites with randomly-selected, available sites, we will identify the characteristics that are preferentially selected and associated with survival. This information will then be used to improve habitat management plans.
